Bone Broth Hot Chocolate
Bone broth has gained popularity as more people become aware of the importance of gut health. It’s rich in nutrients, vitamins, bioavailable protein, collagen, and gelatin! Consuming bone broth consistently has been a HUGE part of my healing journey - it’s been included in almost every protocol I’ve been on. Mainly because of it’s properties that encourage healing and sealing of the gut lining, which further supports absorption and safety in the body.
A few months ago, I saw bone broth hot chocolate show up on my Instagram feed and was really turned off by it. My first thought was “savory hot chocolate??” NO THANKS. So I didn’t make it but after seeing it more recently I decided to finally give it a try.
I will say, after trying and perfecting the chocolate/milk/sweetener ratio, this is one of my favorite ways to get my daily bone broth in! Now I crave this as a snack or a warm drink right before bed to help me unwind.
One cup is packed with balanced macros (protein, carb, fat) antioxidants, magnesium, bioavailable protein, collagen, minerals, and more!
Follow the recipe below and tag me on socials if you try it!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup unflavored or low flavored bone broth (I use Trader Joes or Kettle and Fire)
1 cup nut, seed, or raw milk
1-2 TBSP cacao (more = more chocolatey)
1 TBSP raw honey or maple syrup
1-2 scoops grass-fed collagen (code EDUNNE for 15% off)
Splash of pure vanilla extract
Pinch of Celtic sea salt
(optional: L-glutamine powder, magnesium drops, adaptogens, CBD, etc.)
Recipe:
In a medium-size pan combine bone broth, milk, cacao, honey, vanilla, and let sit over medium heat until slightly warm.
Stir in collagen until fully dissolved. Add a pinch of sea salt (Include optional add-ins). Stir until the mixture is fully combined and it has reached your desired temperature.
Remove from the heat and turn off the stovetop.
Pour the drink into your favorite mug, sip, and enjoy!
