Adrenal Cocktail Gummies

The adrenal cocktail has been gaining popularity as more people become aware of the importance of blood sugar and hormone support! This simple drink is actually a mocktail and is so supportive for our body. It has the perfect balance of protein, fat, easy to digest carb, and minerals which help keep our blood sugar (and hormones) stable. No naked carbs here!

The adrenals are little glands that sit on top of your kidneys that produce hormones, specifically cortisol and adrenaline which are HUGE in our stress response. If too much cortisol is released and isn’t regulated then our body reads that as a threat and turns on the fight or flight response - aka you’re on high alert and all other body systems become out of whack. If this stress response continues, it’s considered chronic stress which ends up overworking the adrenals. The body tries to compensate and there becomes a miscommunication in our brain to respond to stress properly.

You might know this as “adrenal fatigue” which is actually HPA axis dysfunction!

With chronic stress, the body is more susceptible to mineral and nutrient imbalance SO nourishing with food can be extremely helpful (along with lifestyle habits).

I love having these adrenal mocktail gummies because they’re prepped for the week, easy to grab on the go, and have the added benefits of gelatin! Oh, and they taste like little creamsicles!

Grass-fed gelatin is a great source of protein, is high in amino acids, and has properties that seal and heal the gut lining. If gut issues or leaky gut may be a concern for you, try adding gelatin into your routine!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups orange juice

  • 1/4 cup coconut milk (canned works great, make sure the only ingredient is coconut milk)

  • 1/4 cup grass-fed gelatin (code EDUNNE for 15% off)

  • 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt

  • (optional: L-glutamine powder)

Recipe:

  1. Keep the stove turned off and cold for these first steps. In a medium-sized saucepan, pour in orange juice and coconut milk.

  2. Cover the juice mixture with gelatin. Let it rest on top (don’t mix in) to bloom for 5 minutes.

  3. After 5 minutes, stir the mixture together.

  4. Turn the stove on low heat and continue to stir the mixture for 5 minutes. Do NOT boil! It should be slightly warm.

  5. After 5 minutes, pour the mixture into a glass container (or gummy molds if you have them). Let it slightly cool before placing in the freezer (this prevents the glass from breaking)!

  6. Freeze for 2+ hours. Slice and store in the fridge for up to one week.
